Dog Urgent Care at Angelus Pet Hospital

There's a wide territory between 'wait for next week's appointment' and 'race to the emergency room' — and that's where urgent care lives. Vomiting since last night, a limp that appeared this morning, an ear that suddenly smells terrible, a hot spot spreading by the hour: these need attention today.

Our urgent care service sees sick dogs the same day whenever possible, with on-site diagnostics and treatment. It's faster and considerably more affordable than an ER visit, and your dog is seen by a team that keeps their complete history.

True emergencies — collapse, bloat, breathing trouble, major trauma — should go straight to emergency care. Call us and we'll direct you to the right level of care immediately.

What to expect

Call as early in the day as you can and describe what's happening; we triage by phone and fit urgent cases into the same day whenever capacity allows. Visits include an exam and on-site diagnostics, with treatment usually starting immediately — and honest redirection to emergency care when that's what your dog needs.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as urgent versus emergency for a dog?

Urgent: vomiting or diarrhea, limping, ear and eye flare-ups, hot spots, minor wounds, not eating — sick today, seen today. Emergency: breathing trouble, collapse, bloat signs, seizures, major trauma — that's straight to emergency care, and we'll tell you which is which on the phone.

How much does an urgent care visit cost compared to the ER?

Substantially less — you're paying general-practice pricing rather than emergency-facility overhead, and you're seen by a team with access to your dog's full history. The ER earns its cost for true emergencies; for everything else, urgent care is the efficient path.

Should I feed my dog before an urgent visit?

For vomiting or diarrhea, hold food (not water) until we've seen your dog — an empty stomach helps both diagnosis and any needed sedation. For other problems, a normal light morning is fine. When in doubt, ask when you call.
