Mild side effects after vaccination are common and usually pass within a day. Here's what to expect after your pet's vaccines — and the warning signs that mean your pet needs attention right away.

Less concerning side effects

  • Pain or swelling at the injection site
  • Decreased energy with a lower appetite
  • Vomiting once or twice, especially after the car ride home

Monitor symptoms for 24 hours. If symptoms remain or become concerning, call us!

Concerning side effects of vaccinations

  • Swelling of the face, or hives
  • A large decrease in energy and not eating
  • Repeated vomiting — more than twice within a 24-hour period
